I had a baby 4 weeks ago, is it ok for me to start running again? I had a baby 4 weeks ago, It was a normal vaginal birth with no complications. Iv been fairly active and feeling great scince the birth and wanted to start running again, is that ok?

H5 replied: "You should be able to if you feel comfortable. Usually you can start exercise after a vaginal delivery when you feel ready, unless you've been told otherwise. Obviously go easy to begin with and if you get any pain or bright bleeding, stop and talk to your doctor. Google "exercise after childbirth" or something for more info..."

vanoo replied: "wow - congratulations! I would have loved to feel like that I believe you can exercise as you feel - but remember to listen to your body, do not over do anything until you are sure your body can handle it. Make sure you start by jogging lightly on grass. The impact on your body will be reduced. If you do start running make sure you compliment this with yoga or similar strengthening streatching reigeme. Have a read of this - story of a woman who returned to running after 5 weeks."

How likely is that a woman could get pregnant 4 weeks after having a baby? my husband and i just had our first baby 4 weeks ago. we decided not to have sex until after my 6 weeks apt and so that i could get on birth control. we ended up having sex anyway on the 4 week anniversary of the birth of our baby. could i be pregnant? what are the chances?

mrs_blasor replied: "Anything is possible. There is a very slim chance, but its happened before. Be more careful next time. I wouldnt stress out about it, but if you dont have your period within a month or so (periods after baby are always weird), then take a test. Dont forget it takes about a month before birth control is effective, so invest in some condoms for the meantime."

KANTSLEEP replied: "Chances are good if you didn't use protection."

frizzy-head replied: "Quite likely. You're at your most fertile after having a baby. And you may have ovulated, but obviously you wont know... I'd say wait a couple of weeks and if you dont get your period, do a test... Good luck..."

♥Da NC Princess is pregnant♥ replied: "Very possible. You need to give your body a chance to heal."

Becky M replied: "Yes you could! What's wrong with condoms?"

STEPHEN Y replied: "i had my 3rd child and she was 10 wks old and then i was pregnant with my son.it can happen"

*jen* replied: "anything is possible. After a baby your body is ready to do it again. They say that your extremely fertile right after you have a baby."

If i were 6 weeks but the baby 4 weeks would the doctor be able to see the baby in the ultrasound? okkk if i would be 6 weeks but the baby 4 weeks gestational age, could the doc see something/baby or anything in the ultrasound?

Andrea J replied: "How could you be 6 weeks and the baby 4 weeks? Your either 4 or 6 weeks pregnant. And, yes, the baby can be seen in an ultrasound."

EXPECTING replied: "Maybe, maybe not, its kinda early, there is chance he could, and there is a chance he couldn't. You'd just have to have it done to see. He would be able to see the amniotic sac and all that, but maybe not the baby. So, he would be able to tell if you were pregnant. Apparently 'Andrea' has no idea what she is talking about......."

ars1co replied: "yes the doctor can see the egg at that age"

~Emma's mommy!~ replied: "The doctor would see the sac but the baby would be the size of about a raisin. It wouldn't look like a baby either. But they could verify that you are pregnant for sure and see how healthy things are and look."

letsget_dangerous replied: "did you reread what you typed? What do you mean if you were 6 weeks and the baby 4? Maybe im missing something here? Think they can see a lot at 4 weeks."

rmjrussell replied: "I had my ultrasound at my 7 weeks so the baby was actually 5 weeks. They had to do the ultrasound by sticking an ultrasound wand inside you. You could see the heartbeat, the yolk sack, and a tiny ball that was the baby. I could only tell what the heart was though."

Littleblonde replied: "You would have a sac at this point and a fetal pole. But at this early stage you could easily be a few days earlier than that. If you where a few days early then you may not see much"

LoveMyWay replied: "Yeap, just look here!: "

Due 12/28/08 <3 replied: "this is my ultrasound at 6 weeks...you can see the baby on the left (just barely though) and the yolk sac directly to the right of it. "

Kayce Jones♥#1 Due June 12th replied: "I had one at 6weeks 3days and they couldn't see anything yet. Just the sac."

How is it possible to balance a full time job and a new born baby(4 weeks)? My husband works third shift when I do go back to work in a week I will have to leave for work when he gets home then come home while he sleeps and take care of the baby till morning.

kcini8 replied: "You have to get used to very little sleep, but it can be done, I was a single mom of a newborn and I worked after 4 weeks and survived, it's just like having a second job except the baby is much more rewarding."

!!I'm finally a mommy of 4!! replied: "you could get a nanny or just be really tired"

Dani's Mom replied: "i guess you could give up the hooker job which would leave more time for you to either sleep or take care of your baby. you cant have sex for 6 weeks anyways after the baby so you will have no choice but to leave the hooker life behind...at lease for 6 weeks!!! Good luck!!"

sarah. replied: "my husband works 7pm - 3am, and I work 11am-6pm with a 5month old. we decided to do it this way because i dont want to do daycare. we get little sleep and dont really see each other except on weekends, but its worth it because we are saving money not paying for a sitter."

How do you stop a collicy baby 4 weeks old from screaming? She is purely breast fed with nestle formula suplements.

steeler1933 replied: "Try white noise. Put your TV or stereo on a channel with nothing on it. You can also try turning off the base of their monitor and turn the handset on. My daughter had collic and that sound got her quiet everytime. That or MTV2."

qnvita replied: "Try purchasing gripe water in a west indies store"

wildbill05733 replied: "I've been reading a lot lately about swaddeling- basically wrapping them snugly in a blanket. The only thing that should be visable is the head. Another thing I did was to put them on my sholder and pat them on the butt pretty intensley (not enough to hurt) Do it in a heart-beat rythem- pat-pat...pat-pat...pat-pat. This is closest to the heartbeat that they had been listening to just 4 weeks ago."

going to be a mommie replied: "Try some kayro syurp. My grandmother told me that in the old days that is what they use to do. Try massaging her little belly. The pain is what causes the screaming. Ask your doctor if she can take some MYlacan drops for gas. This might help. I am so sorry some people just have to let it take it's course."

almost_n_angel00 replied: "the only thing that helped with my son was a long drive around the block."

mcpenguin5 replied: "My son had very bad colic when he was little, and I can recommend that you ask your Pediatrician about medicine that can help calm her. There may be nothing you can do but wait it out, but I found that Mom and Dad may need help more than the baby. If you are breastfeeding, you may want to be careful what you are eatting. Chocolate, alcohol, and spicy foods may cause some of the problems. Also, you say you are supplementing with formula. This may be part of the problem, too. Many babies cannot properly digest formula, as it is not what they are designed to be eatting. See if you can make do with just nursing. If you feel you are not making enough milk, just use a breast pump at the end of a feeding, as this will help you to make even more milk. The breasts will always try to keep up with demand. I hope this helps, I know what you are going through, and it is not easy to hear your baby suffer like this and not be able to do anything. You can take comfort that colic rarely lasts beyond the first couple of months, at most."

ok_im_smarty replied: "Try infant massage variations - gentle but firm motions on her belly from top to bottom or check out babycenter.com for different techniques."

krazy_n_hot replied: "Ok my son is 20 weeks old and he was crying like hell the first 7 weeks, i tried everything, a swing..carrying him around..nothing helped..then i putted him on a pillow that u normally use for breast feeding, layed him in between and he was so comfortable, from this day on he slept 7 hours through and he stopped crying, he still loves his pillow and he sleeps like a rock on it...i hope u understood what i meant by pillow for breastfeeding, cuz im german and dont know what u call it in english."

danskecat replied: "I went to the breastfeeding clinic because my 4 week old was colic and my doctor recommended Oval drops for gas. It is safe. It has simethicone which breaks up the trapped air. I also swaddled her and bought a big physio ball that you use for working out. You can get them at Walmart. I would sit on it with her and bounce. She loved it and it was easier on my back. My husband used it too. My doctor said that a pacifier is okay to use as well and will not cause nipple confusion at this age. She has been studying breastfeeding for 37 years. That really helped too.Colicy babies cry 1 1/2 to 2 hours a day more than non colic babies and that will lessen when they reach 3 months. Then it gets easier as they get older. Try to relax and maybe wear earplugs. That crying can stress you which the baby will sense. Try checking with your doctor to rule out any other problems. Don't give your baby Karo syrup that person recommended above from the old days, bad advice. Who knows what that stuff can do to a 4 week old babies stomach? That is corn syrup! The first 6 months, babies should only have breastmilk or formula. I work in child care. Good luck."

lighthouse_lover92 replied: "Do you know that what YOU eat effects the breast milk your producing. Contact your ob/gyn and ask if there are certain foods to avoid which may cause your baby to have excessive gas. Also Mylacon gas drops work well. If it doesn't ease up and your at your wits end, try changing from breast feeding to Carnation Good Start Formula. My first child had colic so bad she wouldn't even sleep for a 1/2 hour. When I changed her to that formula from breast milk within a week she was sleeping through the night. Good Luck."

Henry's Mom replied: "My hubby and I thought our baby was colicky but it might be just needing to cry. Anyway, we've had our nights where he needed a big cry but we learned that what you try might not work the first time, so try it again. Babies change their minds all the time with what makes them happy and eventually you figure out something that makes them happy almost all the time. LOL I'll just mention the many things that we've tried to calm him: Playing music and swaying him around (this worked early on) Putting him in the swing (that works more now but sometimes he doesn't like it) Swaddling him and sometimes putting a pacifier in his mouth (this works best for us lately) Laying him on the changing table whether it's to change his diaper or not (calms him down for some reason) Going for a car ride Bath Just never give up with each thing you try right away, give it a chance, your baby might be so busy crying, he/she may shut out everything momentarily. And when your baby cries and cries and you are going crazy just set him/her down somewhere safe (crib most likely) and let them cry for a bit so you can chill. It never helps to be so wound up like that...babies pick up on it."

gracegirl844 replied: "The above suggestions are all great, just remember that sometimes babies just cry for a while and there isn't any "fix" other than cuddling and waiting it out. It may be tempting to get mad at the baby but just keep telling yourself that it won't last for ever and in a few months your baby will be over this stage! My little guy is almost 5 months old now, and he went through a colicky stage from about 4 wks to 8 wks. At the time it was sooo hard, but now I treasure those 2am moments when he was done crying and just snuggled close in my arms...these days he doesn't want to sit still for a moment!"

Ash replied: "try what i tried with my son go buy you some simalac alimintum for the colic and give it to him it reduces the colic. but it can take up to 48 hours before it works but that milk is specified for the colic"

amanda_ailiff replied: "try the vaccum, if that does'nt work take it to the doctor it could be more serious than collic."

Pain and some bleeding after having a baby 4 weeks ago? My friend had a baby 4 weeks ago ,I spoke to her this morning as we do everyday and she said she is having pains like really bad period pains and bleeding clots I said phone the doc she did and they have said its normal. I wondered if she could be having her period cant remember when mine started again after having my 2 girls . I don't think its normal, the docs say it is but should she be in pain after 4 weeks and bleeding with clots ,my gut instinct is no but im not a doctor?

Melly replied: "She should go to emergency it could be some of the placenta still inside her which could be really dangerous! Seriously she should not be bleeding clots after 4 weeks."

JRPG replied: "How big are the clots? If there the size off an egg or bigger than no that is not normal and she needs to see a doctor. I had that and needed to take medicine to contract my utrerus because it had stopped doing it on its own. But if there not that big I was told you can bleed on and off for 6 weeks after birth. Your period can come any time after that if she's breast feeding than it can be a little longer for it to start again."

baby 4 weeks old, How do i get rid of Jelly Belly? I am trying to eat healthy but wondered if any exercise in particular worked for you? Ant tips on getting this weight off would be great xx Oh i should have said i'm not freaking out about it, i just wanted to know if you tried something that worked, i am going to start slowly and just do it the healthy way x

mommy & wife replied: "Took ya 9 months to gain it, don't feel pressured to instantly be skinny again. Keep eating healthy, it's only been 4 weeks. I really like The Firm workout DVD's, they're awesome and have really helped keep me in shape."

Missy replied: "Eat right and exercise. Also, breast feeding is a good way to loose the baby weight."

Sweet Cheeks! replied: "Walking and Sit ups."

nicoladepeza replied: "Gosh elle give yourself a chance, you've just had a baby!! I didn't shed my baby weight until my baby was 4 months old and Im sure it was the breast feeding that shifted it and pushing the pram with bags of tesco shopping attached to the back!!! Give yourself a chance and you'll shed it before you even know it!! Good Luck xx"

Raven replied: "Walking and pilates or yoga has always worked for me."

Lou replied: "I have managed to lose all of my weight through generally having a baby - it means i walk everywhere now with the pushchair rather than going in the car. Are you breastfeeding, or bottle? I breastfeed and that burns 100's of calories. I just need to work on my tummy muscles now,. the weight has gone."

Kara B replied: "Try Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. It's only 20 mins a day (great for new moms!) and it burns calories like crazy! Beware, it kicks your butt at first, but stick with it!"

annababe replied: "i had my son in april of '08 and i had gained 32 pounds the whole pregnancy.i lost 17 pounds at the hospital.when i got home i cut out all sugary drinks and food.i took walks every day ,at first i could only walk for 15 -20 minutes, but i got up to an hour and it is so much easier when they r so tiny that they sleep a lot.i did cheat and did diet pills for an 8 week weight loss.that helped a lot.and now i do yoga and pilaties from youtube.i am now bikini ready.if you can stick to it it works. i also did 150 sit ups every night. i have now lost all the weight plus 5 pounds."

I just had a baby 4 weeks ago and I still get swelling in my hands and face! What is it! Help!? I do not have high blood pressure and my mouth is dry. I am breast feeding and I drink a ton of water. What is weird is that it only happens night time!

stultz replied: "check with your OB. It is not normal, usually swellijg of both feet and other extremities subside upon childbearing."

Lulu86 - Mr Boo Boo's mummy replied: "I had lots of swelling in pregnancy, my feet were the worst. It did take a few weeks for my feet to go back down to normal size, as they were so bad. My swelling was always worst at night, after being active all day. If you're worried, ask a doctor, but it sounds normal to me."

Katie V replied: "For me, I had very little swelling during pregnancy, but tons once I gave birth. Usually it's in your lower extremeties (for me it was my feet), but the fact that it's your hands and (particularly) your face is a bit worrying. I would consult a doctor."

my baby 4 weeks old dr changed her milk and now she is constipated? i call her dr. he saying not too worry about .i do worry about her cuz she has'nt poop for 2 day's i dont know what too do can someone help me please

Still_21_nheart replied: "Put a teaspoon of Karo syrup in the bottle she'll be fine. Southern remedies do work you may think its strange for those of you are in the north but my child is healthy."

liz_chris61804 replied: "sometimes it take a littte while for their bodies to adjust. Drs arent really concerned until they have gone about a week w/o a bowel movement. Just make sure you are tracking the days. If she doesnt poop in a few days give the dr a call back"

Rosey55 D replied: "If your baby is on soy formula this is known to happen. Anyway, when my son suffered with constipation, I would lighten up his formula for one feeding. I would use one scoop of formula in my son's formula instead of two. Like you, I did not believe the doctor when they said that not going for 4 days was normal."

new_mommy_2286 replied: "This happened to my daughter when i stopped breast feeding her, she was only 2 weeks old and i switched her over to formula, she was in alot of distress crying and grunting and everything, it took her about 2-3 months for her system to except the formula and getting use to it, i just gave her 2 ounces of water a day-not substatuting her formula of course, sometimes i had to give it to her twice a day, it defentley helped her big time, all of the nurses told me to do it, im glad i did because i hated seeing her like that, so yeah just try that it should work, and i wouldn't worry about it sicnce it has only been 2 days because my doctor said it's normal for baby's not to poop every day and that it's not considered constapation unless it has been 9 or ten days, i find that a long time but he knows what he is talking about so good luck to you and you baby i hope this has helped you a bit."

Christy replied: "It is not abnormal for a baby to go 3 days or even a week without pooping. Just be on the lookout for the big blowout.haha. If I was you I would buy a pack of cloth diapers. Use them to line your car seat and anywhere you lay her. That way all you have to do is wash the diaper and clothes. If it get to 5 to 7 days I would talk to the doctor again. As long as she is having wet diapers too. If she is not having wet one then go to the doctor right away."

shaz replied: "my son had the same problem put some boiled water in a bottle and have a orange cut it in half squeeze some of the orange on to a tea spoon and pour this in to the water wait for it to cool down and give baby it. my son was exactly the same i done this and with in a hour he had a poo. works every time it wont harm your baby."

mommyof1 replied: "I wouldn't give a 4 week old anything. They are too young. 2 days probably isn't too long especially with a change in diet. However, a small piece of a glycerin suppository for babies will work immediately with no harm. or you could take her temp. rectally. That will get it moving i promise!"

My friend was pregnant, however, she lost her baby @ 4 weeks. How do they get the fetus out? i meant to say 8 weeks!!!!! Oops! Does the embryo come out the same way?

Mr. Sonny replied: "Usually, it comes out naturally."

Bexx replied: "If she was only 4 weeks pregnant then the materials of conception should pass on their own just like a menstrual cycle. If for some reason this doesn't happen, her OB/GYN will have to do a procedure called a D&C that scrapes the lining of the uterus to remove the pregnancy."

davya85 replied: "If she was only 4 weeks along in her pregnancy, the embryo (it's considered a fetus at 11 weeks) would come out on its own in the form of a blood clot. It's so tiny at that stage it can be passed naturally."

Timid Women Rarely Make History replied: "She miscarried early so chances are her body did that work on it's own and she didn't have to have a d&c. She basically went through what would seem like a heavy period with cramping. But a bigger toll on her emotionally. This link will show you all about pregnancy at four weeks."

rcullen1980 replied: "At that early of the cycle she will just have a heavy bleed and the body will flush itself."

Momma Becca replied: "it most likely came out by itself, i had one at around 7 or 8 weeks and i have no complications."

austinsgirl replied: "there isnt much to see even at seven or eight weeks pregnant, you really wouldn't be able to identify anything. it is really small and it would just be heavy bleeding/clots."

Miss Kitty replied: "Her body should naturally miscarry the baby, meaning the uterus would begin to contract and expel the baby and placenta and everything. If this doesn't happen in a timely manner, they might recommend she have a D&C, which is where they go in vaginally and kind of scrape everything out of the inside of her uterus. At 8 weeks, the baby isn't very big, so a miscarriage would be like a very heavy period, with some clots and other lumps that would be expelled. She would most likely not actually see the fetus."
